Aww, poor ignored blog :( Maybe a post will cheer it up hehe.
So today was probably the last time I'll go to FBCC for a while. I have to say, I rather like it. Haha. Maybe some superficial things, but also some deeper ones.
I'm sure it helps that English service starts around 10:45 instead of 9:15 like HCC. Hehe. More sleep = more awake = more cognitive resources to actually pay attention to the message. Also the lighting is yellowish instead of whitish. Small thing, but yellow radiates more of a welcoming glow, while white light is harsh, and yet soporific at the same time. Weird combination *shrug*.
Going every week is also a good chance to see you. Even though these stupid things hanging over my head means I can't come to your house afterwards, it's still nice to get to see my best friend on a more consistent basis. Sad that's ending :( There also seems to be more youth who attend the English service. HCC service is mostly adults, and just 2 rows worth of scrappy college kids hehe. I think that fosters more of a sense that this is my group, and these are my people. Also the usual pastor seems more.. like us I guess. I don't know how old he is, but he just *seems* younger, and English is his primary language, just like it is for us.
The sermons have been pretty interesting thus far too. The previous series on pornography, depression, racism, and negative thinking/talking. It all seemed very real world, very relevant. And today's message about spiritual strength, I felt like it really spoke to me, made me uncomfortable about where my relationship with God is right now. I don't know if people would view that as a good thing :P but sometimes I think I need a bit of goading to act, I guess.
Haha just some ramblings, loose reflections on my church experience this summer. Not very well organized, but I didn't feel like they needed to be, here.
